To maintain environmental equilibrium is a maxim at Selwo Adventure, committing to the protection of flora and fauna species in danger of extinction.

The varied orography and very size of the Park enables the animals to live in controlled surroundings that reproduce their habitat of origin. A team of expert veterinarians and keepers look after the fauna at Selwo Adventure. Aspects such as feeding, with personalised and balanced diets for each species, observation and supervision of the fauna or the special care that the veterinary team devote to reproduction, together with a monitoring of the gestation and, subsequently, the offspring.

Adventure Activities

The complete range of open air activities at SELWO ADVENTURE form part of the great attraction of this unique Park which combines Adventure, Fauna and Nature, where far from being a mere spectator, the visitor becomes the protagonist of an unforgettable day. As well as the possibility of seeing more than 2.000 animals up close, Selwo Adventure offers the possibility of taking part in a variety of adventure activities.

THE RAFIKI PATH OR PATH OF THE HANGING BRIDGES

With its three hanging bridges of 60, 55 and 35 metres length each, this is an activity in which to enjoy a walk that takes you through part of the Route of the Valleys at Selwo Adventure. The Rafiki Path combines adventure and nature, offering the possibility of viewing the diverse species that inhabit this route up close and within the heart of nature itself, from either hiking paths or hanging bridges, with species such as Dromedaries, Llamas or Elands, American Bison... The Rafiki Path has a length of close to 500 metres and leads to Africa.s Window, the highest point at Selwo Adventure from where you can see the Mediterranean and, on clear days, the African coastline, and the Central Village, the strategic and geographical heart of Selwo Adventure.

The Rafiki Path is included in the Selwo Adventure entrance price.

DROMEDARY RIDES

Adventure lovers can ride on the back of a dromedary on the route bearing the name of these legendary camels, located along the Central Village Route at Selwo Adventure. Whilst enjoying this unique experience, you can take in an incredible landscape dominated by the habitat of the Asian Elephants of Selwo Adventure and the Great Bridge of Africa, of 100 metres length and 16 in height, similar to the great walkways that cross the legendary African rivers.


ZIWA ZIP-WIRE

Selwo Adventure has the longest fixed zip-wire in Europe: Ziwa is a permanent zip-wire of 116 metres length,enabling the visitor to slide down whilst enjoying a bird.s eye view of the great Lake of Africa, located in Nature.s Portico, the first of the routes at Selwo Adventure.

Ziwa, "flying over the lake" in Swahili, reaches a maximum speed of 14,8 metres per second and has a drop of 13 metres. The new zip-wire at Selwo Adventure has its starting point in the area to the north of the Lake of Africa, next to the Canyon of the Birds, where there is a specially designed turret from which intrepid explorers begin their very special "flight" during which they slide down the wire whilst enjoying a bird.s eye view of the great Lake of Africa and the lush vegetation surrounding it. The journey ends on the arrival platform in the southern area of the Lake, very close to the Park's Primates Walk.

Ziwa is designed for all members of the public to be able to participate as there are no special physical requirements apart from needing to weigh a minimum of 25 kilos.


ARCHERY MSHALE

Selwo Adventure has prepared an archery facility for those who want to test their dexterity and aim. Specialists in the handling of these rudimentary weapons of the African tribes will hit the bull.s-eye with the first go, those who need more practice will need to keep trying. Mshale is located next to Dromedary Walk, on the Central Village Route.


KURUKA

Selwo Adventure has prepared an activity specially designed for those who don.t know the meaning of the word vertigo: Kuruka, .to jump. in Swahili. An installation consisting of four trampolines that allow you to jump up to 8 metres high and perform somersaults and gymnastics without your feet ever touching the ground. Strategically situated on one of the shores of the Great Lake of Africa, in Nature.s Portico, it is an excellent opportunity to see this incomparable enclave from the skies.
